This new moon is powerful. We’re receiving a solar eclipse AND the sun enters Cancer. Narayana Montufar, senior astrologer at Astrology.com says “Solar eclipses are extra powerful lunar events, rallying the energy of three new moons in one.” The astrology sign of Cancer is all about getting in touch w/ your genuine feelings, opening to your most nurturing energies, and also learning to contain those raw, unfiltered feelings within secure boundaries. This eclipse is very much a guide for getting in touch w/ the water element and the moon too, as the Moon is the planetary force that rules Cancer. The oracle card I pulled is: “Love” Message: Krishna and Radha symbolize moonlit nights of music, passion, and coming together in a love that’s boundless (not the marriage/ traditional type), and deeply compassionate, meaning there is no judgment, and every feeling is welcomed, allowed to come up and be shown, no matter how raw/ vulnerable. This is a soul love and its power is so great it allows them to cut through obstacles on their spiritual path and reach liberation. What feelings are coming up in the collective or in your personal life? Are you able to access your most raw emotions and treat them with the balm of this pure, unselfish love? Use the Cancer energies to check your boundaries so that you can channel this love in a safe way. It is only from a loving inner world that you can nurture others in your external environment. Instead of just ‘tolerating’ what comes up during this eclipse, be open to flowing with it, like water. In the same way that water smooths a stone, in what ways can you smooth over old rigid tendencies w/ difficult people, experiences, or being pushed out of your comfort zone and approach the moment in a more soothing, loving way? If Cancer is all about protecting/ honoring safety and Krishna is all about expanding the heart, we need to contemplate how to protect/ offer security from a place of love/ compassion instead of fear. This is the difference between humbly serving and arrogantly hiding. Or building a nourishing spiritual practice vs. vegging out in the comfort of netflix. Or putting a firm, loving boundary in place vs. leading someone on because we’re scared of losing them or hurting them. The point is, this eclipse wants to increase our capacity to love, in a wholehearted, beautifully boundaried way. “Generosity cannot exist without setting boundaries.”- Brene Brown Here is a tantric yoga meditation I learned from Christopher Hareesh Wallis to get in touch with the heart space: Sit in a comfortable cross legged position (or in a chair) with pillows to support your knees. Close your eyes, and now notice the place behind your eyes/ head where it feels like thoughts are being ‘generated’ or consciousness is rooted. Gently invite that consciousness to travel from there down to the heart space. Let it drop down slowly. (In Tantra Yoga tradition the heart is actually considered a seat of consciousness, and it is very natural to rest there.) Once there, take a nice long inhale imagining white opaque light flowing into the heart space. Keep letting in this white, iridescent, pearly, light in. It is milky white light of the moon. It nurtures, and calms the nervous system. Let this light fill your heart space. Rest in this light. See if you can slowly move your awareness to the back of the heart. Continue exploring this space, now moving to the base of the heart. Notice what it feels like to rest at the back of the base of the heart. If thoughts come up let them be active like waves at the surface of the ocean while you remain deep beneath the surface where it’s calm. Simply rest here for a few more minutes, letting breathing be natural. (5-10 minutes is sufficient) Open your eyes, give yourself a gentle foot massage to ground/ come out of the meditation. Wishing your a powerful heart-opening eclipse/ new moon. Blessings, Tara |
