Experience has shown me it’s possible to transform ‘cold’ emotions into warmer ones by chanting and contemplating the Gayatri mantra.
Chanted over 3,000 years ago, the Gayatri is a primal and ancient poem to the sun. Chanting it today is a powerful way to remember that we’re plugged into something much more real than our mental projections, more intelligent than our phones, and more brilliant than our technology innovations- we are plugged into life force itself.
Every repetition of the mantra is a chance to wake up a little, to remember that light/ life force is intimately still in us, and we are in it. The opportunity is to invite luminosity in to illuminate our consciousness, so that our karma might speed up, habits may transform, and we can evolve spiritually.
The ancients understood that the more we tune in with light, the more we radiate its frequency.
Here is my favorite translation of the Gayatri mantra from Isa Upanishad:
“O nourishing Sun, solitary traveler, controller, source of life for all creatures, spread your light and subdue your dazzling splendor so that I may see your blessed Self. Even that very Self am I!”
Isa Upanishad (16)
Here’s a beautiful version of the Gayatri chant that I have listened to and meditated with a lot.
Gayatri mantra:
om tat savitur vareNyaM
bhargo devasya dhīmahi
dhiyo yo nah prachodayāt
